Bichi's labels are known for their distinctly Mexican character and the Téllez family's playful sense of humour.
Bichi was founded by Noel Téllez and his family in 2014, with the name meaning “naked” in the Sonoran Yaqui language. Noel works with old, dry-farmed vineyards and traditional winemaking methods, producing what he calls vinos sin maquillaje — wines “without makeup”. His biodynamic vineyards and minimal-intervention approach celebrate the extraordinary history and diversity of Baja California's vines.
Nicky Snicky comes from one of Bichi's oldest vineyards, with 105-year-old Rosa del Perú vines planted at 750 metres on sandy-loam soils. The grapes are hand-destemmed and naturally fermented on their skins in concrete for 20 days before being pressed and aged in stainless steel. The wine is bottled without fining, filtration or added sulphur, leaving a juicy, expressive red with plenty of personality.
